Frank Slide

Frank Slide is a massive rockslide-avalanche located in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies. 70 people were killed when 90million tons of rock slide down Turtle mountain and buried part of the town of Frank on the morning of April 29, 1903. Using high resolution airphoto imagery and centimetre elevation data, a 15 Square foot model of Frank slide was created for the GSC. This stunning 3D solid terrain model will be delivered early in 2003 to the Frank Slide Interpretative Centre in Alberta as part of a special display marking the 100th anniversary of the slide.
